Job Overview

Head of Technical Learning for is a key member of the Portfolio, Investment and Business Services Leadership Team.  Acting as the central point of accountability for all aspects of technical learning across Technical Services (TS).  This role is pivotal in shaping a compelling future focused learning culture aligned to TS’s long-term business objectivesThe role will also lead the Technical Training Services (TTS) team, ensuring training design and delivery continues to evolve in line with regulatory standards, business needs and technological advancement.  Including governing engineering competency as Business Process Owner (BPO) and embedding the new engineering apprenticeship scheme.  Work closely with NATS Strategic learning partners to ensure there is forward-thinking approach to technical learningThe Head of Technical Learning will be accountable for delivering the remainder of the 5-year learning transformation plan, integrating it with wider transformation initiatives and enhancing the impact of learning across TS.  Central to this role is driving innovation in learning practice, modernising content, delivery methods, and developing commercial opportunities

 

 Duties Include

  •  Leadership - represent Portfolio, Investment and Business Services at a leadership level, role modelling core values and behaviours in all internal / external forums and activities across the directorate
  • Lead and inspire the TS Team to drive innovation and creativity in the development and delivery of effective and efficient training, whilst balancing the continued delivery of existing training to ensure engineering competency is met
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across NATS, suppliers, customers, professional and regulatory bodies
  • Drive learning transformation, embedding modern learning technologies and aligning with the capital projects. Manage supply and demand effectively alongside multiple incoming requirements 
  • Lead development of external training services, enhancing commercial revenue while operating within the OPEX constraints
  • Ensure all Technical Training activities comply with UK and international regulations and the relevant statutory requirement

 

Essential Experience

  • Formal qualification at Degree level or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience
  • Proven leadership within complex transformation programmes, balancing strategic and tactical demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing at all levels including internal, external stakeholders
  • Strong, credible impact, with a demonstrated capability to resolve conflict; build, maintain and utilise relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum business goals
