Job Purpose/Overview:

Our Analytics team members see their analysis swiftly shape data-driven decisions across our industry to help ensure air travel becomes even safer, greener and more efficient. This Lead Analyst role is a rare opportunity to join the team at a senior level and we’re looking for someone who can combine their leadership and technical skills to enhance and expand our capabilities and services. This specific role will be focussed on analytical modelling for airport stakeholders so an interest in this domain, willingness to travel on occasion and any experience of airport planning/simulation toolsets would be beneficial.

Applicants should have a proven ability to lead, manage and deliver a portfolio of high-quality technical analysis. The successful candidate will have a proactive and can-do approach, with the curiosity to unlock the potential from complex data, translating this into insightful recommendations and solutions which can be relied on by your customers. Effective teamwork and communication skills are essential attributes which will allow you to consider different technical viewpoints and to present a clear story from your results. Previous experience in successfully interpreting, shaping and delivering requirements to add demonstrable value for senior customers would be an advantage.  

 

Roles within Analytics involve a variety of analytical tools and techniques, therefore experience of appropriate programming languages (e.g. R, Python, PySpark), databases and statistical packages, data science and Machine Learning/AI techniques would be beneficial. Your sound logic and reasoning, alongside the ability to look at things from multiple perspectives, means that you will also be adept at positively challenging the status quo.

 

Qualifications, experience and skills:

 

  • Academic Background: Good honours degree in a numerate subject (which could be scientific or business oriented) or equivalent (e.g. other qualifications or relevant work experience).
  • Knowledge and Appreciation of Air Traffic Management (ATM) operations: Desirable to have a knowledge and appreciation of current and likely future UK ATM operations, in depth in at least one area. A good understanding of the interactions between ATM operations and how work produced fits into the wider processes, including performance reporting. Some familiarity with European and world-wide developments in ATM as required.
  • Quality of work and communication: Produces well documented, high quality technical work, and actively determines when work is of a sufficient standard. Appreciation of the importance of generating and applying best practice. Proven communication and presentation skills at all levels.
  • Negotiation: An ability to negotiate with technical, operational and non-operational staff on a wide range of technical and non-technical topics, including the ability to present clear and persuasive business cases and arguments.
  • Team working: An ability to lead, motivate and inspire an effective team culture, by promoting team spirit, keeping others focussed and supporting colleagues. Able to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment taking into account different perspectives and able to moderate different technical viewpoints.
